Dr. Rita Hudson Shourds has been with Align since its inception and leads the organization in its quest to bring about systemic change to the five county region. In the past, Dr. Shourds has led organizations in post-secondary and nonprofit sectors, leading to recognition from several organizations including, Leadership Southern Indiana, BPW River City, One Southern Indiana Personal Counseling Services and the New Albany Rotary. She has been recognized as a Distinguished Hoosier and Kentucky Colonel.
Dr. Shourds is a graduate of Indiana University, University of Louisville and Spalding University and lives in Floyds Knobs with her family. She has served on numerous boards and is presently serving on the Norton Healthcare Board, One Southern Indiana Foundation Board, and First Savings Foundation Board.
Dr. Shourds comments, “Although on several occasions, my family has had the opportunity to leave this region, other places never measured up. Our region has committed citizens who desire to make a difference for future generations, even when it may require a change to generational thinking. Align has been very well received, showing the genuine interest of public and private organizations to move towards a culture of systemic change.”
Liz Daugherty

Liz is a native of Southwest Virginia but has lived in Southern Indiana for over 10 years. Liz is a graduate of Virginia Intermont College. Most recently, she graduated with her Master’s in Management and Leadership from Western Governor’s University. Liz has a previous background in Adult Education and Therapeutic Counseling. She is employed at the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana as the Grant & Donor Services Manager. Liz currently lives in Elizabeth, Indiana with her two dogs, Graycee and Peyton. She loves to socialize with friends and listen to live music when time permits.
Wes Scott
Marketing and Communications
Wes is a Southern Indiana native through and through. He attended Maple Elementary, Parkview Middle, and Jeffersonville High School in Jeffersonville before heading to Indiana University. Following college, he spent time working for the Boys and Girls Club of Kentuckiana and the Southern Indiana YMCA before spending nine years as an educator at Jeffersonville High School. He broke into marketing in 2018, working at Amatrol Inc. and the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, where has been employed since 2021. Wes currently lives in Jeff with his wife, son, dog, and two cats, and enjoys watching sports (Hoosiers, Colts, and Pacers) and listening to music.
